What is a birth doula?

Doula Services I offer

Group of people performing a labor position on a person on a beige carpeted floor,  and others assisting.

A trained support person that provides emotional and physical support through pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum. Doulas help you advocate, educate, and provide comfort in this new era of your life. Doulas are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice.

  • Three at home prenatal visits to discuss how you envision your birth 
  • Unlimited communication throughout your pregnancy to answer questions, ease your mind, and help find resources in the community to fit your needs

  • Create and discuss a birth plan that helps fit your vision

  • Prepare you emotionally and physically for labor

  • Provide 24/7 on call availability from 37 weeks until birth

Pregnancy

  • Advocate for your birth plan alongside the birth team
  • Ease your body with various therapeutic measures such as counter pressure, vocal techniques, visualization, positive affirmations, effective positioning and other beneficial birth tools

  • Provide your partner with ways to support you and help collaborate as a team

  • Take photos and videos if requested

Labor and Birth

  • Ensuring you feel safe, I will stay for up to two hours after your baby is born

  • Two at home postpartum visits to check in on your new family, and go over your birth experience

  • Answer any newborn questions regarding feeding, sleeping, etc..

  • During visits I am willing to provide a light chore so you can take a nap, shower or spend time with your newborn!
